It's another week and time for another bra!
This week I made the Céline bralette by Closet Core Patterns.
Closet Core Patterns recently released a beautiful lingerie collection and I am very excited about sewing them all up!
I am a big fan of Closet Core patterns, some of their outer wear patterns, like the Morgan jeans have become wardrobe staples.
For Céline I made option B which gives more front coverage and the cross over is pretty.
For materials I used a firm black power net as the main and lining fabric of the bralette. A firm power net gives support to a bralette. I also like to use just power net for my first run of a pattern so I get a clear view of how the pattern fits.
The instructions were clear and easy to follow. As well as elastics there are only three pattern pieces which is less than that patterns I am used to. Each piece needed to be cut four times.
The design encloses the seams which you know I love!! It gives a professional and clean finish inside and out. The cup is darted, which I haven't sewn before but I like the overall minimalist vibe it gives.
Overall the bra is very comfortable and has great side boob support which is something I haven't found in a lot of bralettes.
Will I make more? Yes.
Will I make any adjustments? The only fitting adjustment I would make is to the cup. I have a "bottom heavy" breast i.e. a fuller bottom cup. For the Céline this means the lower cup is a bit too small. Still wearable just not my perfect fit.
Solution? I'm thinking of extending the bottom half of the cup by making the dart longer. Or...I could make a cup size bigger. Watch this space!
What did I use this week?
