Welcome to week 11 of the Bra A Week Challenge!
This week was a selfless sew for my sister. I made the Mojito swimsuit by Fityoo swimsuit .
I already made it for myself in week 6 see how I got on here!
Making a garment for someone else is challenging. Ideally I should have measured her in person but I couldn't and had to go by hers. Overall, her measurements fit into M apart from one which was L. I decided to making an M all over based on her ready to wear clothing size.
I made the suit with "drum roll" new shop stock!
I used this Italian Lycra fabric in black with a cream lining. It is firm and supportive.
The biggest differences I've noticed between ready to wear swimwear vs home sewn is lining!
I have rarely found a fully lined swimsuit in the shop, it may be partially lined but never front and back. Lining is something that gives beach confidence, I feel more confident knowing that my swimsuit is not see through.
The design features of the Mojito swimsuit pattern I love are the under bust elastic, bust darts and enclosed seams. These improve the fit and the shape of the swimwear. The enclosed seams give a neat and professional finish.
The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed that the suit is not yet finished!
The elastics haven't yet been added. This is because my sister needs to try it on and I can make any adjustments can be made before the elastics are added.
And there you go!
What did I use?
1. The Mojito Swimsuit by Fityoo Lingerie patterns
2. Black Lycra and beige lining - now part of a kit
